IDE to SATA hard drive?
I have an older pc with ide and I want to upgrade my hard drive and I wanted to go with 1.5TB. I saw an adapter to allow me to hook up a sata harddrive. Ide to sata adapter :http://www.cwol.com/serial-ata/ide-to-sata-converter.htm and will this adapter allow me to hook up to this hardrive :http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136351. Would this work?
This may work, but bear in mind that you would probably still be restricted by the speed limit allowed by IDE at least, if the adapter itself isn't even more restrictive. I've never used one of these devices, so I cannot say how reliable they are. Depending on how old your computer is (i.e. 5+ years old), you may be better off just gutting it and replacing everything so you will be better able to keep up with the current standards. My desktop is about this old, and its motherboard is slowly starting to fail simply due to age. $13 doesn't seem like a ton, though, so maybe you could try it, but don't blame me if anything goes wrong.
