Are all HD ready TVs HDCP compatible and how do i argue for a refund?

The reason i asked was because i called Sony because i couldnt connect my blue-ray laptop to my HD TV. They told me that the laptop computer wasnt hdcp compatible even though it has blu-ray and hdmi socket and a big gold sticker saying FULL 1080 HD

Also whats the point of it having that gold sticker when the resolution is only 1280-800
and i cant connect to HDTV. Infact whats the point of having a hdmi socket

Is there a converter/adaptor or upgrade available. Sony didnt know. If not is it possible to get a refund as this was a major selling point

Sorry for so many questions but im really lost
I really feel ripped of with those big stickers saying FULL 1080 HD and BLU_RAY and HDMI. When you cant connect to a bloody HDTV because it isnt HDCP compliant

I could have bought a laptop with better specs without blu-ray for same price

IM A SUCKER FOR MARKETING PLOYS

I understand your frustration, HDCP has caused me a lot of headaches when I setup my home theater. You will need to check if your laptop's HDMI is HDCP compliant. Your TV is expecting to see a certain keycode to authenicate the device.

As far as I know, you can not fix this problem with an adapter. I have a Sony TV and it is my guess the problem is with the laptop. Sony's implementation of HDCP is fairly good. I suspect your laptop is the problem.

That being said, if you have a VGA port on your TV, you can get a fairly decent picture.

Hope this helps!
