Need help picking out a center channel speaker for a denon avr 486 receiver. Any suggestions?
I bought a denon 7.1 channel home theater system 2 years ago and the center channel speaker blew out recently and I want to replace it with a good speaker for under $200.
The specs for the center channel are:
75W
(8 ohms, 20 Hz ~ 20kHz with 0.08% T.H.D)
110 W
(6 ohms, 1kHz with .7% T.H.D
I don't really know what any of this means. Should i look for a speaker with similar specs?
Thank you for your responses. The speakers that I have now are the ones that came with the system. They are denon speakers. I have already tried to search for the speaker model online and have not had any luck finding it. When I bought the system I was buying it more for the receiver knowing that down the line I was going to upgrade the speakers and I figured now is a good time to start. I don't have the money to upgrade them all right now so I was going to start with the center channel since it is the one that is not working.
Center channel is used mainly for voice, so you don't really need anything fancy. You do need to match the impedence of your receiver (8 ohm or 6 ohm) and anything above 75 W (at 8 ohms) will be probably wasted, but can be less.
