how do I connect my macbook to an old tv?
I have a macbook and an regualr tv, not an hdtv or a plasma, just a regular old tv. It has the three aux colors connections(red, white, yellow) and it also has an s-video connection. Is there a way that i can connect both together and watch videos or movies that I have on my laptop?
Is there like a converter box or something that i can use? If I had a Playstaion 3 would I be able to do this or no? Are there other devices out there that can let me do this? Thank you.
My macbook has a mini displayport.
Depends on which MacBook you have.
MacBooks made before 2008 have support for old obsolete low-definition boob-tube TVs like yours, and Apple has a miniDVI-to-composite video adapter available for it.
MacBooks made after 2008 will NOT work with low-definition boob-tube TVs-- Apple deleted support for those from the 2008-and-later Macbooks. Those will require a signal converter box of some sort.
EDITED TO ADD: Your miniDisplayPort Macbook is one of the post-2008 models, which has NO support for low-definition boob-tube TVs. Sorry, you are out of luck. (Actually, that's a good thing.
