Is your Flat screen TV properly Installed and Attuned?
LCD or Plasma TVs have steadily displaced the conventional CRT TV sets in majority of homes. Better picture quality along with sound has made the Flat screen TVs a popular home entertainment device. However it takes sometime before you achieve the perfect picture settings for your flat screen TV.
Is the image quality not up to your expectations?
Most viewers often find that the picture quality varies a lot with different TV sets. The images seen in the TV showrooms will often vary with those in homes wherein the brightness and color are exaggerated.
After Flat screen TV or Plasma TV Installation, the first thing to be done is to check the picture settings. If you find the images to be dull then a TV calibration would be a recommended option.
Calibration is the process of tuning the settings of your TV to get the optimum picture quality possible.
What are the advantages of a properly tuned TV set?
The benefits of a well tuned TV screen are quite a few. Not only will your TV set have an increased life span but also you would save on electricity due to lesser consumption. Most importantly a Flat screen TV with the correct settings will reduce eye strain and enable you to enjoy viewing.
So remember that adjusting the TV settings is as important as precise Flat screen TV installation. Ideally the calibration part should be done some time after your flat screen TV has been properly installed or wall mounted. This gives you a chance to compare the original picture quality with the one you most prefer.
The basic aspects that you need to look for while adjusting image settings are
• Brightness
• Sharpness
• Color intensity
• Contrast
• Shade or color tint
Any television set which has the above qualities correctly tuned will make for a pleasant viewing experience. For best results adjust the settings from the position where you would be watching the screen. This would give you a correct idea of depth as up close a screen would always look different.
How do I go about it?
Adjusting the TV setting is done keeping in mind the lighting of the room. Keep the surrounding as natural as possible, as this will make a difference to the image clarity. If you generally watch the TV with the windows open or with the shades drawn, with the lights on maximum or dimmed keep it that way while doing the adjusting.
In layman's terms the black spots should be as black as possible and the whites as bright as possible. Dim the brightness and then go up till the picture looks best to you. Follow a similar approach for setting the contrast from low to high. Sharpness and color should be done the other way round from maximum to your preferred range of viewing.
As you will need to compare the different images, play one of your favorite DVDs, one which has plenty of diverse elements of color and brightness.
