Approximately how long will it take to put up 200' of 6' wood privacy fence?
Me and my friend are going to put the fence up for his mom. She was asking us to give her a price for doing the work. It's a flat yard with a lawn so I was thinking maybe one day (12 hours) but I'm not sure. The post will just be buried about 2 feet , no concrete. The panels are 6 ft high and 8 ft long. How long do you think it will take us? My friend has some experience with this type of thing because his dad is a contractor.
I don't really need to know how to do it. I just need to know about how long it will take. Here in FL the use 8' post and bury them about 2.5 ' deep and no concrete. The only place they use concrete is at the gate.
So I think 3 days tops.
Loosely based on my recent experience, I would say 1/2 hour to nail up each 8 ft section (17 pickets)* and 1/3 hour for each post [this allows for installing cross beams] so 12 hr + 8 hr (rounding down a bit) plus travel time to get stuff. (and buy a post hole digger, etc.)
*Wait. Are the panels already assembled? Then just post hole digging, attaching, and tamping in the dirt around the posts time. And maybe less than 20 minutes doing each post hole since while one digs, the other rests, or brings around a panel. {You could time yourself while doing a couple practice digs.} So 1 long day. $100 each.
Or, settle on an approximate price, with parameters, and then settle up depending on how long it really takes ( after all, you do not want to gouge his mom! )
