Do bicycle tube protectors really work? Brands: Earth Guard, Mr. Tuffy, Slime?

I want to know if anyone has experience with bicycle tube protectors and how well they work. From waht I've researched, there are brands like Slime, Mr Tuffy and Earth Guard that manufacture tube protectors, but i couldn't find any reviews made by real live users. I plan on using it on a mountain bike. Thanks for the help.

Yes, MTBng was always getting pesky hard to find thorn punctures, flats. Put in Slime strips and muchmobetta!

Have coupla buds using slime tubes instead and happy w'm.
