Computer help with DVI cables?
I need help setting up a monitor so that it works as a second monitor with my laptop (this is the easy part) but also I want to switch it from being a second monitor for my laptop to being my visual for an xbox with a cable. is this possible?
Would go from laptop > joiner/splitter > monitor
and
xbox > joiner/splitter > monitor
and I could switch between them. sorry if this isnt clear enough. thanks in advanced!
Er... it has a white and blue slot 
but i dont know how to change between the two, and ive never used the white one before.
Does your monitor have both VGA and DVI slots? You could hook one up to each and then switch the input on the monitor as needed.

Alright, well the blue one is VGA (analog) and the white one is DVI (digital). As far as I know, the Xbox 360 (and maybe original Xbox) have VGA outputs, so you could use the VGA cable + slot on either the laptop or Xbox, then buy another VGA cable and a VGA->DVI adapter, and use that for the other one (plugging the adapter into the monitor).
Should be easy to switch between them, most monitors have an input button on them, or some option to switch inputs in the menu.
