Lipo Battery
Can i use lipo battery for rc cars?

if i can then, i want to tell me where ican find a motor (540 type) with esc, the lipo battery etc.
thanks i want your opinion

You can use a li-po battery in any type of rc car as long as the electric speed control supports the voltage of the lithium battery you want to use. If it does not you are garaunteed to fry the controller.

Most all stock speed controllers will work in a safe range with li-po battery's but in some very SMALL cases it will not work. Such as the rotary mechanical speed control like the traxxas stampede.

Take into account that lithium batteries have a cutoff range much higher than regular batteries. If you run the battery past that point you could do permenant damage to the lipo.

New esc's on the market now have a lipo/nimh detect with an ability to stop the car when the voltage reaches the right cut-off point. Some of these include =
Novak super sport
Novak super rooster
Novak gtb
Castle creations mamba
LRP qc3 digital esc
LRP sphere brushed/brushless

Understand that many of these like to be run with brushless 540 motors (some brushed) as lipo's produce more current.
A 7.2 volt nimh may be in very close capacity to a 7.4 volt lipo but the lipo is going to discharge more current and "much more juice". Most brushed motors dont really need that extra juice as they can meet they're limit with a regular nimh.

In the end if you want to use lipo batteries, you're biggest benefit isn't going to be the battery that you've decided to use, but whether you've decided to buy a brushless motor setup to go with it.
