Gas Wall Heater(ventfree)?
Hi, I am considering having room heaters install and specificly my bedroom.My room is 13x12,but I have 9ft ceilings so I know this is added area to heat.I already have existing gas lines capped.What size heater do I need to warm my room efficiently? Should I go with manual or something with thermostat? Last, can I install it myself and If so,what are step by step? i know I need a flex pipe kit with shutoff and will need to shut the gas off at the meter.. Thanks
If you are asking, I suggest you be safe, and call a plumber. Opening a gas system is risky, if you don't know what you are doing. Asking advice on here is no guarantee that the answers are 100% correct, or that you can follow them exactly. Let a professional perform this work. Gas needs to be respected, as it can kill you, if just one small leak happens. I am a master plumber, and I still have an occasional leak. Using the proper materials, and joint compound, is no promise that a leak won't occur. When you are using gas fired equipment, vent less type equipment is dangerous, as carbon monoxide is produced. Also, combustion air is a factor that needs to be addressed. In a closed room, the fire can and will use the surrounding air in the burning process. If your room is sealed tight, you can suffer from loss of oxygen. I am trying to present the worse case, so you can understand the severity of a wrong action. Good luck!
