Dell Inspiron 17- monitor turns off after a few minutes despite altered settings.?
On my laptop, a Dell Inspiron 17 running on Windows 17, my screen returns to the login page after just a few minutes. It's extremely annoying but i can't change it. I have gone to the control panel and power options, and have set dim display, turn off display and put the computer to sleep to never in a vain attempt after 30 minutes didn't work either. Regardless of these settings the screen returns to the login page after a few minutes of not moving the mouse. I looked in the advanced options and all the settings there should stop this from happening.
Any comments from anyone with techy knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like your screen saver has a very short start time (like 3 minutes) and has a password prompt to return you to your desktop.
To disable:
Right Click on the Desktop
Go To: Properties
Screen Saver tab
