Blood Pressure Product Reviews - LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor - UA-774AC Dual Memory Auto Inflate
Introduction
The main feature of this Lifesource BP monitor is that it stores blood pressure readings for two users.
Followers of my product reviews will be aware that I am fond of products that save people money by being able to be shared by than one person in the home. Shared use can create more value by negating the need to purchase two or more of a particular item and for that reason I like the LifeSource Blood Pressure Monitor UA-774AC Dual Memory Auto Inflate. With the Lifesource UA-7774AC blood pressure monitor, you receive exactly this kind of value. The monitor can be used be two different users and stores the last 30 blood pressure measurements for each person. Where the blood pressure monitor is needed for use by only person, then they can use all 60 log “spaces”.
The UA-774AC is a high quality BP monitor (albeit features-wise, perhaps not the best ever reviewed here) but becomes an excellent choice if you are need of a two-user capable monitoring device. It has a lot (but not all) of the features I want to see in a blood pressure monitor in this price range.
Features
In addition to the “two user” facility, keep in mind that there is also a “Guest Mode” for one-off blood pressure readings and this can be used anytime by anybody without disturbing the stored data.
Like we mentioned above, the LifeSource UA-774AC Dual Memory Auto Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor allows two users to store measurement results for the last 30 blood pressure checks. However, even though the unit stores results for two users, that number might be regarded as too low. Regardless of the fact the unit can store BP measurements for two users, it would be better if it had capacity sufficient for at least the last 50 or 60 measurement readings. I should point out that there are other dual user monitors in the same price range as the LifeSource UA-774AC that offer greater storage for blood pressure data. The omission of more memory in the UA-774AC is a cause of concern for me and inhibits me from being more excited about the unit. Nevertheless, if you visit the doctor frequently or keep a blood pressure chart, the unit’s limited storage capacity should not be an issue, especially having in mind that one would be buying a Lifesource quality product with lifetime guarantee.
On the other hand, the LifeSource UA-774AC does offer users plenty of other useful features. For example, it uses the superb Irregular Heartbeat Detection technology, which I think an invaluable addition to any BP monitor; and it does provide auto inflation, which many will find useful.
Since the Lifesource UA-774AC supports two users, you must choose from user ‘A’ or user ‘B’, before starting the cuff inflation. Although this model does not utilize a true ‘one touch’ system for operation (no dual user monitor does), the added button press should not be too inconvenient for most users. Of course, the fact that the unit provides dual user capability is more than adequate compensation for the inconvenience of pushing one more extra button.
The LCD display on the LifeSource UA-774AC is not quite as large as on some other monitors made available today; however, the results are large enough that they are easily read and viewed from a normal viewing distance. The LifeSource LCD screen displays test results for both blood pressure and pulse. The backlight on this pressure monitor is sufficiently bright and contrast is very good. The monitor does come with medium and large size cuffs that should allow adult members of most households to be able to use the machine.
Not only does the unit comes with a lifetime limited warranty but it is really durable and well built; one would expect the unit to provide years of trouble free use.
Conclusion
The LifeSource UA-774AC Dual Memory Auto Inflate Blood Pressure Monitor is a very capable monitor with many of the features most home users require in a blood pressure monitor. The monitor provides accurate results and is sturdy in its construction. The dual user capability of the LifeSource UA-774AC, and the added feature of Irregular Heartbeat Detection, make the monitor a good value. While this is not the best dual user monitor we have seen, it performs very well and will make a good choice for households where two people need to monitor their BP levels.
