In my linksys wifi router setup, there is a fielder there for wireless network access-wireless MAC filter...?
There is a button there to click to "permit only pcs listed to access the wireless network" And at the bottom there are many same boxes of MAC1: ___________. MAC2: __________, MAC3:________ and so on.... I only want 2 laptops to access the wireless signal. I dont want anybody accessing my wifi signal. What characters do I put inthe field to recognize that this notebook is permitted to access the wifi signal. Thanks..
When you run your IPCONFIG/ALL, you are not looking for the MAC address, you are looking for the physical address, which is a different name for the same thing. See blow for an example from my computer. Enter the physical address in the MAC address field on the wireless device and you should be all set.
