LCD Touch Screen or Pen Tablet Digitizer?

for home use and light image editing, which one is worth buying?
an LCD Touch Screen Panel 17"
OR
a Pen tablet (WACOM BAMBOO FUN SMALL) active size arround 6x4" USB

You may find the resolution with the LCD touch screen is not as high.
Also the cost factor of owning a touch LCD against the Wacom is a vast difference.
My daughter has the Wacom tablet and it's excellent, we service touch screens at work and find them a bit fiddly, certainly not as comfortable to use as the tablet and nowhere near as versatile.
