About SATA hard drive?
I got this 160gb seagate hard drive on thanks giving.
The bad news is my mother board have no SATA port.
So, i convert it into external hard drive instead. Unfortunately, the mother board require firmware to recognize the internal hard drive and the worst part is the SATA internal drive doesn't have firmware available online.
I also try other choice, internal drive. I got this convertor from ebay, (http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Serial-ATA-SATA-to-IDE-100-133-Converter-Adapter-i9_W0QQitemZ280052957870QQihZ018QQcategoryZ74941QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). But still my computer still not able to recognize the hard drive.
They require this thing call Optimal NCQ. I have no idea what it is.
Is there any other choice????????????????????????????

6 years of using computers isn't the same as building, upgrading, and repairing over 3000 computers in the last 6 years.
Your problem is many of those adapters won't work. Forget it. Get yourself a PCI SATA controller card. At the very least you can use the drive for data storage. You may not be able to boot from it if your BIOS doesn't allow "boot from other devices" but you can at least still use it. Otherwise, find an external SATA enclosure and use it via USB.
